FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Every question below is something a real client has asked before or during a project. If yours isn't here, just ask.

General

How much does a website cost?

Costs vary depending on whether it's a WordPress site, a Shopify store, or a fully custom application, and how much content and functionality it needs. Rather than quote a number that wouldn't be accurate for your project, I'd rather look at what you actually need and give you a real figure.

Do I need a new website or just marketing?

It depends on what's actually holding the business back. A slow or outdated site limits what marketing can achieve, but a good site with nobody finding it doesn't grow a business either. I'll tell you honestly which one matters more for your situation.

Can you fix my current website instead of rebuilding it?

Often, yes. If the foundation is sound, fixing performance, security, or specific features usually makes more sense than starting over. A full rebuild is only worth it when the current site is genuinely holding the business back.

How long does a project usually take?

It depends on scope: a WordPress site is usually quicker than a custom web application, and a store with many products takes longer to set up than a simple business site. I'll give you a realistic timeline once I understand what's involved.

Do you work with businesses outside Porto?

Yes. I'm based in Porto and work with local businesses in person when useful, but most of the work, development, marketing, and communication, happens just as well remotely with clients anywhere.

What if I'm not sure what I need yet?

That's normal, and it's a fine place to start. Tell me what's going on with the business, and I'll help you figure out whether the priority is the website, the marketing, or something else first.

Is WordPress or Shopify right for me?

WordPress tends to fit content-heavy or service-based businesses, while Shopify is built specifically for e-commerce. If neither fits what you're actually trying to do, a custom application might make more sense. I'll help you work out which.

Can you help after the site goes live?

Yes. Sites need occasional updates, fixes, and small changes after launch, and I stay reachable for that rather than disappearing once the project ships.

Web Development

Can you fix a site someone else built?

Yes, this is common. I'll look at the existing code and content first, then tell you honestly whether it's easier to fix in place or rebuild, rather than assuming a rebuild is always the answer.

Will my site actually work on mobile?

Every site I build is responsive from the start, tested across phone, tablet, and desktop sizes, not just resized down from a desktop design as an afterthought.

Do you build online stores?

Yes, on both WooCommerce and Shopify, including product setup, payment integrations, and subscription systems where needed.

Can you connect my site to other tools?

Yes. I regularly integrate sites with CRMs, email platforms, payment processors, and other third-party tools through their APIs or webhooks.

Why is my current site so slow?

Usually it's a combination of unoptimized images, too many plugins, poor hosting, or code that was never cleaned up. I can audit what's actually causing it rather than guessing.

Marketing

Why can't people find my business on Google?

Usually it comes down to an incomplete Google Business Profile, missing local SEO fundamentals, or a site that isn't structured in a way Google can easily understand. I can tell you which after a look at what's actually there.

Should I run ads or focus on SEO first?

SEO builds visibility that lasts but takes time. Ads bring traffic immediately but stop the moment you stop paying. Which one comes first depends on how quickly you need results and what budget you have.

How long until SEO actually works?

It varies by competition and starting point, but meaningful movement usually takes a few months, not days. I won't promise a specific timeline I can't guarantee.

Is my Google Business Profile set up right?

A lot of profiles are missing accurate categories, complete information, or a real review process. I can review yours and tell you honestly what's missing.

What's a good budget for Google Ads?

It depends on your industry, competition, and goals. Rather than give a generic number, I'll help you set a budget based on what you're actually trying to achieve.

Can you track which ads actually work?

Yes. Conversion tracking gets set up before a campaign launches, so you know which ads and keywords are actually generating enquiries, not just clicks.

Why isn't my website converting visitors?

Often it's unclear calls to action, a confusing user journey, or a lack of trust signals. I look at the whole path a visitor takes, not just the traffic numbers.

Do I need Meta Ads too?

Not always. It depends on where your customers actually spend time and how they search for businesses like yours. I'll tell you if it's worth adding.

AI & Automation

Can this reply to customers automatically?

Yes. I've built systems that read an incoming form or email and send a natural, human-sounding reply automatically, so enquiries don't sit unanswered.

How do I stop typing the same quote every time?

By automating it: pulling the details from the request, checking your existing rates, calculating totals, and generating the document automatically instead of doing it by hand each time.

Can you connect my form to my inbox?

Yes, and beyond that, to spreadsheets, CRMs, or other tools your business already uses, so information moves between them without manual copying.

Will it sound like a robot?

No, that's the point. The replies are written to sound like a real, natural response, not a generic auto-reply template.

Can it calculate pricing for me?

Yes. If your pricing follows rules, rates, quantities, taxes, I can build a system that applies those rules automatically instead of someone doing the math by hand.

What tools can this connect to?

Forms, email, spreadsheets, and most tools that offer an API. Webhook support covers a lot of what businesses already use.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You tell me what the process looks like today, and I build and maintain the automation. You just use it.

Can it generate reports on its own?

Yes. I've built tools that analyze an input, like a website, then use AI to turn that analysis into a clear, readable report, delivered automatically.
