Store build
A new store on Shopify or WooCommerce, or a rebuild of one that has outgrown its theme: catalogue structure, collections, product templates and a checkout that is easy to finish.
I'm a freelance ecommerce website developer based in Porto, Portugal, building online stores for brands in the UK, the US and Europe. I build on Shopify and WooCommerce, and I set up the parts that decide whether a store sells: payments, shipping, product pages, SEO and the tracking that shows which products actually make money.
Every store is different, but these four parts are in almost every project.
A new store on Shopify or WooCommerce, or a rebuild of one that has outgrown its theme: catalogue structure, collections, product templates and a checkout that is easy to finish.
Payment providers, shipping zones and rates, taxes, and the emails customers get after they order, set up and tested with real test orders before launch.
Connecting the store to the tools the business already uses, such as accounting, stock, subscriptions or a CRM. I connected one coffee store to QuickBooks so the store and the accounting talk to each other.
Clean collection and product pages for search, structured data, a fast theme, and GA4 ecommerce events so you can see revenue by product and by channel.
Shopify is usually the simpler choice: hosting, security and updates are handled for you, and it runs well with a small team. WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so it suits stores that are content-heavy or need deep customisation, but it needs more maintenance. I build on both, and I will recommend the one that fits, even when it is the smaller job. For Shopify-specific work, see my Shopify developer page.
I also take on WooCommerce web developer work on existing stores, and B2B ecommerce website development where customers need their own prices, bulk ordering or account-based buying.
Most of my ecommerce clients are outside Portugal and work with me online. If you are looking for an ecommerce website developer in the UK, Portugal shares your time zone, so I work your hours. US brands get a daily overlap with the East Coast morning. Businesses in Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia and nearby can also meet me in person when it helps.
A store is more than a theme and some products. Before launch I set up the parts that decide whether it sells: a product structure that makes sense for your catalogue, collection pages people can filter, a checkout with the payment methods your customers expect, shipping rules and taxes, transactional emails, and the legal pages. Then the parts that let it grow: clean URLs and product data for search, GA4 ecommerce events, and the Meta pixel if you plan to advertise.

Improved loading speed to around 65 on mobile and 92 on desktop in PageSpeed, connected the store to QuickBooks, and fixed broken links and wrong URLs across the site.
Migrated an outdoor apparel store from a Shopify 1.0 theme to Online Store 2.0, rebuilding product pages and collections as reusable sections.
Moved a family apparel store to Online Store 2.0 and mapped redirects so existing product links kept working.
A free 20-minute call about what you sell, who buys it and how you ship it.
A written fixed quote with the scope and what is included, before work starts.
I build the store and test payments, shipping and emails with real test orders.
We go live when you are happy, and I stay reachable for fixes and changes.
Pick a platform (usually Shopify or WooCommerce), set up products and collections, connect payments and shipping, write clear product pages, and test the checkout with real orders before launch. Then set up tracking and SEO so people can find the store and you can see what sells. I can do all of it, or the parts you would rather not.
An ecommerce website is a site where customers can browse products, pay and place orders online, with stock, payments, shipping and order emails handled by the platform behind it.
It depends on the platform, the number of products, the design and the integrations. After a free call I send a written fixed quote, so you know the cost before anything starts. Platform fees, such as a Shopify plan, are paid to the platform separately.
Yes. A lot of my store work is on existing stores: speed, broken features, a theme upgrade or an integration that never worked properly.
Yes, online. Portugal shares the UK time zone, and my afternoons overlap with the US East Coast morning.
It depends mostly on the number of products, how ready the content is and how custom the design needs to be. I give you a timeline with the written quote, and I tell you early if anything on your side, like product photos, is likely to hold it up.
Tell me what you sell and where you sell it. I will tell you honestly which platform and setup I would use.
